Net Easy selected as Endian Partner for Linux based UTM (Unified Threat Management)
Net Easy is selected as a partner by Endian to provide Unified Threat Management services using the Endian products.
December, 2009 Endian announces Net Easy is selected as a partner to distribute and install "Unified Threat Management" platform. The system is derived from the "Linux from Scratch" project (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org) and makes heavy use of the Open-Source tools which Net Easy has used for years in network projects like network monitoring, intrusion detection, sip proxy services to name only a few.
Endian is capable of doing spam filtering and antiviris filtering in either bridged mode or gateway mode. However, another benefit is for groups that operate their own Microsoft Exchange E-mail Servers in house. The Endian software/device can be configured to serve as a secondary MX record, allowing the Microsoft Exchange E-mail Server to be rebooted or taken down for service without loss of e-mail.
"Endian is a combination of various Open Source products written in various languages that are connected together using the Python programming language (http://python.org ) to ensure interoperability. This provides for highly cost effective development and keeps the price point at a good value for features" says Bryan Fogleman. IT professionals can achieve best practice services with reduced time to hand configure many of these services. Troy Frew points out that a few examples of the features are:
- Routing
- Network Security
- Web Security
- E-mail Security
- Management
- Logging
- Updates
- VPN
However, some really nice features that take more time to address would be:
- High Availability
- WAN Failover
- Hotspot
- Updates & Backup
